Dale King Interviews Valerie VanBooven

Dale King: Today I'm interviewing long-term care marketing expert and
consultant, Valerie VanBooven. Hello Valerie. How are you?

Valerie VanBooven: Great thanks for the invitation!

Dale King: Would you mind explaining exactly what it is that you do?

Valerie VanBooven: I help elder care and senior service providers (typically small business owners) reinvent their marketing techniques- allowing them to attract more clients and keep them for longer periods of time.

Dale King: Why did you choose that particular niche to specialize in?

Valerie VanBooven: I am a nurse by trade and a small business owner. There is such a need in the health care market for a breath of fresh air regarding cost effective marketing techniques and showing businesses the stuff that works!

Dale King: Valerie, tell my readers how and when you got started marketing on the Internet.

Valerie VanBooven: Actually, I have always loved using the internet for my
products and services- it's mandatory for someone in the information
marketing business.

Dale King: Some Internet Marketing experts advise newbies to
steer clear of certains areas of Internet Marketing, like selling
e-books on how to make money, advertising services, SEO services,
copywriting, etc., because those particular niches are deemed to be
"too competitive." Do you agree with that assessment?

Valerie VanBooven: Not at all! You have to diversify and get yourself out
there using as many options as you can. It's BECAUSE of the competition that you need to use all of these resources.

Dale King: How is internet marketing different now, as opposed to when you first got started online?

Valerie VanBooven: Things have changed from "I have a website" to Web 2.0 seemingly overnight. Everything is much more interactive and social these days. Your website has to be more than a picture and postcard.

Dale King: How important has goal-setting been to your overall
success?

Valerie VanBooven: There is no way that I could have accomplished all that I have without setting goals.

Dale King: How important has reading been to your overall success?

Valerie VanBooven: I read everything I have time for. I've learned a lot
from online marketers and print material.

Dale King: If you could recommend one business or marketing book to my
readers what would it be?

Valerie VanBooven: I can't recommend just one. Anything by Dan Kennedy or Seth Godin.

Dale King: In your opinion, what technology has changed Internet
Marketing the most over the last 5 years?

Valerie VanBooven: automation of everything

Dale King: What new technology do you see changing internet marketing over the next 5 years?

Valerie VanBooven:  video capabilities

Dale King: What  person or persons have influenced you the most in your
lifetime, and how?

Valerie VanBooven: my 1 year old triplets give me a reason to make diaper money and more every single day.

Dale King: If you could give my readers one piece of advice, what would it be?

Valerie VanBooven:  YCDBSOYA- You can't do business sitting on your ass.

Dale King: Thank you very much, Valerie. I appreciate you taking the
time to do this interview.

Valerie VanBooven: Thanks Dale!
