Sabrina: I am fine, thank you.
Dale King: Sabrina, tell my readers how and when you got started
marketing on the Internet.
Dr. Schleicher: I got started marketing on the internet when I realized how valuable it is to potential clients to be able to view a coach's website when making a decision as to whether or not to hire a particular coach.
Dale King: Some Internet marketing experts advise newbies to
steer clear of certain areas of Internet marketing, like selling
e-books on how to make money, advertising services, SEO services, etc., because they're too competitive. Do you agree with that assessment?
Dr. Schleicher: I believe it really depends on what your product is. As an executive and life coach, I offer a knowledge-based service to my clients.
When marketing knowledge and expertise, I have found it is much more effective to market myself by sharing my knowledge with potential clients. I have done this through publishing my own newsletter ( http:// tapthepotential.com/thebalancedlifenewsletter.html ) and writing
articles for distribution in other ezines. Potential clients come to know my area of expertise and seek me out for coaching to provide them with personalized coaching to work smarter, experience more success, and have more time for what is important to them.
Dale King: How important has goal-setting been to your overall
success?
Dr. Schleicher: Setting goals has been crucial to my success. I have found it effective to focus on only one or two goals at a time, and set reasonable time limits to attain my goals. I encourage my clients to do the same.
Dale King: How important has reading been to your overall success?
Dr. Schleicher: I read daily to keep up with new developments in
various fields. Because my clients are business owners and professionals who want to further their careers and experience more success, I read about various topics including the psychology of optimal human functioning, business trends, the economy, and developments in coaching. Because I read across a broad variety of topics, I am able to pull from various knowledge bases when tailoring my services to the needs of my clients.
Dale King: If you could give my readers one piece of advice,
what would it be?
Dr. Schleicher: Lead with your strength. When it comes to marketing, choose one or two approaches that come naturally and easily to you. Don't waste your time trying to force yourself to market in a way that feels forced. You'll just procrastinate and become frustrated with yourself for not marketing yourself effectively. Focus on developing those approaches to marketing that you enjoy. Learn all you can about the "secrets" to using those approaches successfully. Be strategic in your marketing. It is much more effective to use one or two approaches with target markets, than to try multiple approaches.
Dale King: Thank you very much Sabrina. I appreciate you taking the time to do this interview.
Dr. Schleicher: Thank you.
