I have been writing all sorts of ad drivel for over two decades across all relevant media not including that skywriting incident. For years it was the traditional stuff--television commercials, radio commercials, print ads and collateral (aka brochures and all the other stuff).

I am a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in Journalism. I began as a copywriter, a naive one, and made up ad campaigns. After the small, unassuming agency I landed at the Martin Agency in Richmond, Virginia in its creative heyday and managed to survive a dog-eat-dog, cutthroat agency atmosphere before moving onto a smaller boutique in Raleigh, NC with my reputation intact and no record of a rehab stay. Now that's saying something.

After years of the agency scene and after having won all the big awards--The New York One Show, Communication Arts and New York Art Director Show-- I got bored with all of it. Actually, I got pregnant. With my husband. (Which is unusual in the ad game.) So I started free lancing. Writing ads. I liked me as the CEO so much, I've never looked back. I've gotten into the internet and marketing and am still hired to write. I've written comics, I've written websites. I've designed websites, planned websites, started a forum, designed and manage a giant website and have lots of fun writing drivel and even some serious stuff like trigeminal neuralgia and oligodendroglioma. Look at that I can even spell those really hard words.

I am a marketing "ho" and a search engine junkie. There, I admitted it. I love to see what snags an audience what makes something come to life. You want words that lie lifeless on a page like a lump on a log? Find another writer. You want something that reaches out and grabs people by the seat of their pants? We might just be able to work together.

You may already have a product that, by virtue of one of its attributes, would make a great niche product. You look into what is important to this market and create your product/service message and content around that marketing strategy. You don't have to abandon your present business to do this. You can simply set up another site that caters to a more specific audience at the same time and watch the two.

» Target Your Market - Get Your Website To Speak To Your Niche
By Anne Moss Rogers | Published 03/28/2008 | Internet Marketing/Marketing | Rating:

Basically, a niche market is a very specific market within a group. A target audience within a target audience so to speak.

Let's say you sell running shoes. To niche that down, maybe you sell running shoes specifically for marathoners and triathletes. Or maybe you choose to have running shoes for people with foot problems like bunions or other charming foot abnormalities.

So you managed to get a website up and working. You managed to set up a pay per click campaign. But you have not managed to get lots of buyers, callers, joiners, clickers or whatever it is you were after. You may even be advertising to a niche market, yet your website speaks to a general audience. If you try to be everything to every body these days and you will end up being nothing to anybody. So let's look at how you might make changes to your site to speak to a niche and get some conversions.

» Building Your Website As A Sales And Marketing Tool And Not Just A Vessel Of Goods
By Anne Moss Rogers | Published 03/28/2008 | Internet Marketing/Marketing | Rating:

You are not just building a website. You are building a brand. It is not all about the tools you use to get it done. There are plenty of these that do not require you to be a programming engineer. But what is difficult is "branding" your product and website so that you build it as a sales and marketing tool to build market share. It is the ethereal part that is not as easily learned. And quite frankly some have the knack for it and others do not. And it is the part that separates the entrepreneurs from the rainbow chasers.
